These are my favorite street photos of Philadelphia's Center City, which residents of other cities might refer to as its "downtown." I picked them so they could hold together as a portfolio and so their style would be reasonably consistent with similar street photos of Philly I've produced in previous years. I can't wait for the weather to warm up so I can start building my selection for 2011.
This started out as ten photos, but it pained me too much not to add five more. Yes, I could have re-titled this gallery my "top fifteen," but it just doesn't sound as good. Maybe if I find five more I've overlooked I'll retitle this my top twenty. In the meantime, pretend that whatever five you like least don't exist and feel free to leave comments on whichever you like most.
This is a selection of my best travel and street photos from a 9-day visit to Beijing and Xi'an, China. Beijing is the capital of the People's Republic of China and its second largest city, with a total metropolitan population of 19.6 million. Xi'an, for those who don't already know, was the original capital of Imperial China and is where the terra cotta warriors are buried. In both cities I was fortunate to experience rare days of clear blue skies. Overcast skies due to air pollution is the norm. Regardless, the constant activity makes them as much a street and travel photographer's dream as they are a challenge.
