These photos are all about simple shapes and bold colors. Some were shot on film, others with a digital camera. I generally shoot with Canon cameras and lenses, either film or digital. It's all good.

Female Portraits in Black & White

Background information

I have nothing against color portraiture, but given a choice, my preference will always be black and white.

This is a collection of what I consider to be some of my best black and white portraits. Most of my subjects were young women who wanted headshots for their acting or modeling portfolios. Few succeeded. I hope my photos weren't to blame.

Most of these photos were shot with a 35mm camera, but a few were shot using medium format. All were shot with black & white film, which I processed and printed myself. What you're viewing are scans of the prints rather than scans of the negatives. I hope you enjoy looking at them as much as I enjoyed printing them.

This is a collection of classic style, black-and-white street photos I've produced over the years. Almost all were shot on black-and-white film that I processed and printed myself.

Vintage Cars

Because of its warm, dry climate, cars last longer in Southern California than they do in most parts of the United States; and because distances are so great and public transportation so poor, Southern Californians drive everywhere. Therefore, vintage cars (i.e., cars more than 20 years old) are relatively common. I find that the cars have as much personality as their owners. Better yet, they don't mind posing for the camera.
